Flexibility is one (often overlooked) component of fitness and should be an integral part of every workout program. A flexible muscle is less likely to become injured if you have to make a sudden move. By increasing the range of motion in a particular joint through stretching, you can decrease the resistance on your body’s muscles during various activities.
Here’s a great stretch for anyone with neck or shoulder tension. Start in a comfortable seated position securing one hand on the side of the chair. Bring your ear down to the opposite shoulder of the hand you are using to hold onto the seat. Use your other hand to guide your head over and apply pressure until you feel a stretch. Hold it for 30 seconds and repeat 3x on both sides.
